Removing your makeup after a long day can be a challenge. I don’t know about you but all I want is my bed when I’m tired. The idea of taking off a full face of makeup is the last thing I remember.
There have been a few products I’ve come across, some new, some old favourites, that really get the job done. These have been tried, tested and remain true to the fact that they work! It’s so important to remove all your makeup at night and I’ll tell you, throughout my 20’s I’ve made so many skincare mistakes that all stemmed from not removing my makeup properly and thoroughly after a long day or night.
Wading through the mountains of options we have to help with this is no easy task; I’m still trying so many new options. From balms to cleansers, gels to cleansing cloths…the list is endless but it’s so exciting, no? If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a little but of a skincare and makeup addict/horder…whatever you want to call it. So the fact that there are so many options is kind of thrilling because I get to try them all!
My skin is and always has been unusually dry, all my life, but the options I love are perfect for all skin types. I’ve narrowed down a few favourites that, I feel, have not only improved my skin but do remove every last drop of makeup, every time.
This balm to oil option is a must for anyone looking for an easy way to remove makeup fast and thoroughly. It doesn’t take a lot to get the job done. I usually use the amount equivalent to the size of a dime and it does the trick. Using this on dry skin and massaging in really helps to take off any foundation, even full coverage, and doesn’t leave skin dry or squeaky. After rinsing, skin feels balanced and soft.
I’m sure by now you’ve heard of Bioderma Micellar Solution, the magical liquid…well it’s magic alright. I first ran into this product many years ago after needing a makeup remover that would remove mascara like a pro. I can safely say this stuff is bomb dot com! It doesn’t burn, sting or hurt your eyes…in fact it feels like water, literally. There are options for different skin types but the Sensibo Solution is perfect for everyone.
If balms aren’t your jam then give oils a try. I’ve been a fan of the Shu Uemura brand for a while now and their range of oils are life changing. Like I said, removing your makeup well is a big deal and using an oil has become an essential part of my routine. It removes all of your makeup, very well and whether you rinse off or double cleanse with a cleansing cloth it leaves your face fresh, clean and ready for your next step.
I love all three of these options and frequently rotate them, just to switch it up. Which one is your favourite? Any other holy grail products I should know about?
